Jubilee Celebrations

Friday saw West Lancashire’s continued Jubilee celebrations come to Skelmersdale. And what better place to hold such an event than at the towns very own Amphitheatre. A perfect location to have such a grand occasion.

Unfortunately, the day didn’t start so well. The rain was heavy and relentless. Moods were dampened, but that didn’t stop FoTV, WLBC Ranger Service, volunteers and business owners from getting on with everything that needed to be done before the local community started to arrive and celebrations got underway.

Luckily, as everyone had just about finished their preparations the clouds parted and the sun began to shine and it continued to shine all the way through the day.

Visitors started to arrive in their droves and were greeted with an official event opening speech from Mayor Marilyn Westley. Shortly after guests began to discover all the fun that was planned for the afternoon ahead. There was an inflatable 5 a side football pitch, a trampoline arena, grass sledding and face painting. Stalls included “The Crepe Escape”, “Skelmersdale Heritage Society”, “FoTV”, “WLBC Park and Countryside Ranger Service” and other hot food vendors.

Live music and a large stage created the main feature of the day and the E Rooms did a fantastic job of providing an absolutely amazing atmosphere during the festivities. All the singers and musicians on the day were so talented and performed brilliantly.

Thank you so much to the organisations and businesses that worked so hard to make it such a successful day and thank you to everyone who came down to the Tawd Valley Park to join us in the celebrations. We all hope you had a great and memorable day.
