The Wild Times

FoTV have had a very busy beginning to the last month of the year, so without further a do, let us indulge you all with what we’ve been up to as we head into the festive period.

Over the past week or so, Team Tawd were again at The Ecumenical Centre working alongside the Purple Umbrella team finishing off the wheelchair accessible raised beds. The community garden is looking absolutely fantastic. Well done everyone yet again and thank you for all your hard work.

Next up, the bright sunshine kept Team Tawd and Rangers Chris and Hallam busy as they got to work clearing a ditch alongside the riverside path to protect the path from erosion. Preventing erosion is important to keeping large quantities of sediment from entering the river and reducing water quality. Top work, team.

There’s no stopping Team Tawd and Ranger Chris, they are on a roll. Next up, they got to work on installing another bench in Cobbs Clough. Incredible!!! We really hope the community enjoy sitting on these benches as they take in all the beauty the clough has to offer.

Our December activity was the Christmas Coffee Morning at the FoTV classroom. We had a great turn-out and it was lovely chatting with everyone who came. It was a great little, relaxing morning.

Moving on, there’s less than a week left until our fundraiser closes. We have absolutely smashed our target!!! We are so grateful to those that have donated. We can still make things even better with further donations though, so please consider clicking the link to show your support: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/half-mile-lake

We had the honour to be asked by Ormskirk Clocktower Rotary to join them on their Rotary Santa Sleigh event around Burscough this week. It was amazing to see the look on children’s faces as we went around. FoTV receives 85% of the donations made at this event, which is extremely generous of the Rotary Club and we are very grateful for this wonderful gift. Thank you so much to Sue, Dave and the Rotary Team for hosting a well organised event. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

And, that is your lot. You are all caught up on the goings on over at Friends of Tawd Valley. We here at FoTV would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We really appreciate the support we’ve be shown over the past year by the community, by local businesses, and by local and national organisations. Without this support we wouldn’t be able to do half the stuff we do. We look forward to building on the amazing success of 2023 to make 2024 even better.
