Valley Updates

Its that time again. It’s time to tell you about all the great things that are happening within the Tawd Valley Park. So, grab your snacks and grab your tea, then settle down to some uplifting updates and news.

First up, the 11th June saw a marvellous afternoon turnout to the Tawd Valley Park wildlife walk led by the very insightful Ranger Chris. His knowledge on the valley’s insect and plant life captivated his audience to no end. Thank you to all who joined us. We hope you had a lovely time.

Next up, We want to say a massive thank you to Rotary Club of Ormskirk Clocktower for very generously choosing Friends of Tawd Valley to be in receipt of one of their small grant funds. The funds will be used to purchase bat detectors and pond dipping equipment for use with the community in Tawd Valley Park.

On the 17th June we had the honour of being asked to be part and to set up our stall at the Armed Forces Day at the Amphitheatre on Yewdale. It was a successful day and the event saw an amazing turn-out. The organisers should be very proud and we can’t thank them enough for asking us to be apart of their great day. We look forward to next years celebrations.

Friday was a very busy morning again for Team Tawd as they strimmed the grass along the path to the scrape to keep the gullies clear. It was then onto pulling balsam for the remainder of the morning. Disappointingly, they also had to put back a large number of the spiral guards that had been removed from the saplings planted earlier this year, that had been left lying around. No idea why anyone would remove them. Very strange.

That’s it for now. As always thank you for calling back on a daily basis to take the time to see what FoTV and its volunteers are doing to try and improve our local wildlife spots.
