Weekly Round-up

Last Saturday saw an astounding turn out of volunteers for our tree planting near to the community fruit orchard. Approximately 280 saplings supplied by The Woodland Trust were planted with each tree supported using bamboo cane and then spiral guards installed around the tree for protection from rabbits and deer.

Afterwards everyone went back to the community classroom for drinks and some cake, supplied by our very own Pete to celebrate his birthday.

Everyone worked so hard and we can’t thank them enough.

On Friday, Team Tawd and Ranger Chris were at Cobbs Clough. They were behind the leaky dam getting some Marsh Marigold and Flag Iris for the wetland scrape next to the community’s fruit orchard. The leaky dam is doing exactly what we hoped it would and has created a shallow pond behind it. This should hopefully create a brilliant mini habitat for fish, such as Stickleback and Minnow, as well as providing shelter for amphibians and small mammals.
